Overview
At Health Orlando Urology, we are committed to providing an accessible, inclusive, and respectful experience for patients, visitors, companions, caregivers, and online users. Our goal is to provide full and equal access to our healthcare services, physical location, communications, and digital content.
Accessibility is an ongoing effort. We regularly review our processes, facility access, website content, and communication practices so that we can better support people with visual, hearing, mobility, cognitive, speech, neurological, and other disabilities.
Effective communication
Health Orlando Urology is committed to communicating effectively with patients and visitors. When reasonably necessary to support effective communication, we will provide appropriate auxiliary aids and services at no charge.
Auxiliary aids and services may vary depending on the individual’s communication needs, the nature of the interaction, the complexity of the information being communicated, and the context of the appointment or service.
Relay and TTY/TDD calls
We accept Telecommunications Relay Service calls, including 711 relay calls and TTY/TDD calls, in the same manner as traditional telephone calls.
Auxiliary aids and services
We will work with patients and visitors to identify reasonable communication support when needed for appointments, office visits, instructions, or practice information.
Website accessibility
Health Orlando Urology strives to develop and maintain website content that is accessible to the widest possible audience. We aim to follow current accessibility best practices, including the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines, commonly known as WCAG.
Our goal is to support the WCAG 2.2 Level AA principles of content that is perceivable, operable, understandable, and robust. We understand that accessibility is not a one-time project, and we continue to improve our website as technology, content, and standards evolve.
Our website goals include
- Readable, structured content
- Keyboard-accessible navigation where possible
- Descriptive links and buttons
- Appropriate heading structure
- Alternative text for meaningful images
- Sufficient visual contrast where possible
Assistive technology support
- Screen reader compatibility improvements
- Logical reading order
- Clear form labels and instructions
- Reduced reliance on color alone
- Accessible focus indicators where possible
- Ongoing review of new website content
Assistive devices and technology
Patients and visitors are welcome to use their own assistive devices, mobility devices, communication devices, screen readers, speech recognition tools, magnification tools, or other assistive technologies when accessing our facility, services, or website.
If an assistive device or technology is not compatible with a portion of our facility, website, or service process, we will make reasonable efforts to provide access through an alternative method when possible.
Companions and service animals
Companions, caregivers, interpreters, guide dogs, and service animals are welcome to accompany patients and visitors with disabilities in accordance with applicable law and office safety requirements.
Our team will make reasonable efforts to provide assistance in a sensitive, respectful, and discreet manner when requested. We also understand that companions may be necessary to support communication, mobility, decision-making, or care coordination.
Temporary interruption of accessible services
If we become temporarily unable to offer a facility feature, communication service, website feature, or other support that assists people with disabilities, we will make reasonable efforts to provide notice when possible.
When feasible, notice may include the reason for the interruption, the expected duration, and available alternative methods for accessing information or services.
Staff training and awareness
Health Orlando Urology supports ongoing staff awareness and training related to respectful assistance, accessible communication, service animals, disability etiquette, privacy, and reasonable modifications.
Our goal is to help team members communicate with sensitivity, respond appropriately to accessibility requests, and provide helpful assistance while respecting each patient’s dignity and independence.
Reasonable modifications to policies and procedures
We will make reasonable modifications to our policies, practices, and procedures when necessary to provide full and equal access to our facility, website, communications, and services, unless doing so would fundamentally alter the nature of the service or create an undue burden.
Patients and visitors who need a reasonable modification are encouraged to contact our office before their visit when possible so that our team can better prepare to assist.
Accessibility feedback and assistance
We welcome feedback about the accessibility of our facility, website, communications, and services. If you encounter an accessibility barrier or need information in another format, please contact us.
